My name is Maude Fortunato, I'm a designer based in Brooklyn, NY. Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, my journey into fashion began as a young jazz musician. Crafting the perfect look for my gigs quickly became my second passion.
After earning my BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), I moved to New York City. Upon arrival, I freelanced at 6397, a brand born out of The News Showroom founded by Stella Ishii. Under the guidance of lead designer Lizzie Owens, I focused on denim and hard wovens, leaving me eager for more. Currently, I am an assistant designer at Madewell on both the women’s denim and washed product team.
Outside of fashion, you can find me Citibiking, reading memoirs, making visual art, and taking photos of graffiti. I draw inspiration from the mundane and subcultures; I enjoy story telling through unconventional materials.
